Announcements

The Lija tennis court was constructed in the early 1990’s when the Lija football ground was converted into a multiuse area that incorporated a downsized football area, a bocci pitch, swings and children’s play area as well as space allocated for the tennis court.

The first committee was formed in 1993, with Dr Thomas Azzopardi serving as President of the Club. Since that time, the membership increased steadily with currently over a hundred paid up members forming part of the club. The club is run by a committee made up of voluntary members whose aim is to keep the club fully operated and to ensure adequate maintenance of the tennis court itself, the organisation and coordination of a number of tournaments throughout the year, the running of coaching clinics to further promote the development of youths as well as holding a number of social events spread out over the year.

The club’s affairs are run from the clubhouse quarters, the legal title of which was devolved to the Lija tennis Club in 1999. The clubhouse underwent extensive refurbishment in 2010 amongst being the addition of several facilities and amenities to the club house.

Everyone has the potential to reach their goals, but sometimes it can be hard to know how to get there. That’s where coaching comes in. A coach can provide you with a supportive and inspiring environment that helps you to unlock your potential and achieve success.

Whether you’re trying to level up your game on the tennis court or brushing up on your skills, a knowledgeable coach can help you reach your potential. Through a combination of focus and guidance, you can take the steps to reach your desired outcome and make the most out of these coaching sessions.

Currently, there are three coaching clinic intakes each year, typically held in February, July, and October. Each intake consists of a series of 10 weekly coaching sessions.

We look forward to seeing you there !

Q1 - What are the club's operating hours?

The office is open every Friday between 17:30 and 18:30 hours.

Tennis facilities, including the court, are available to members who have pre-booked their slots. Members seeking to make bookings are kindly requested to do so within the designated office operating hours.

Q2 - How can I check the availability of the court and reserve a slot?

Currently, online booking is not yet available. We are actively working towards making this feature accessible to club members in the near future.

For the time being, you can check court availabilities and book the required time slots on the booking sheet on the noticeboard at the club premises on Fridays. Please note that slots are allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Q3 - At what age do the coaching clinics commence?

Coaching clinics are open to participants starting from 6 years of age, provided that a parent or guardian grants consent for individuals up to 13 years of age to participate in any of the activities organised by the club.

We have received various inquiries about whether clinics are available for children younger than 6 years of age. Unfortunately, we are currently unable to accommodate such requests

Q4  Who is eligible to book the court?

Only registered club members have the privilege of booking our tennis court.

Q5 – Is club membership required for attending coaching clinics?

While club membership is not mandatory for coaching clinic applicants, we strongly recommend joining the club. Membership provides special access to our tennis court and facilities, allowing you to practice and refine your skills between coaching sessions.

Q6 - When are the coaching clinics usually held?

Currently, coaching clinics are scheduled three times a year: in February, July, and October. These clinics consist of a series of 10 weekly coaching sessions for different groups. Session days are as follows:

  • Saturdays: Under 14 (All levels)

  • Sundays: Adults Brush Up/Intermediate/Teens.

It is imperative to acknowledge that the Club retains the prerogative to postpone or cancel coaching clinics in instances of limited applicant enrolment. In such eventualities, the Club will expeditiously process reimbursements as appropriate.
